Green Burial

The world is ever-changing and so are funeral service trends. We wish to embrace these new changes while preserving the traditions native Pittsburghers hold near and dear to their hearts. Green (or natural) burial emphasizes simplicity and environmental sustainability. This includes the sanitation, preservation, and restoration of a decedent without the use of chemicals that are toxic or non biodegradable. The body is simply placed in a biodegradable coffin or shroud and interred without a concrete burial vault. The grave site is allowed to return to nature.

GREEN BURIAL WITH GRAVESIDE SERVICE: $3,500

Includes local transport from place of death into our care, casketing or shrouding, filing necessary legal documents and authorizations, and casket coach for graveside service at the appointed time.

GREEN BURIAL WITH ONE HOUR VIEWING AND GRAVESIDE SERVICE: $4,025

Includes local transport from place of death into our care, washing, dressing, and casketing or shrouding, filing necessary legal documents and authorizations, one hour viewing immediately prior to leaving for the cemetery, and casket coach for graveside service at the appointed time.

GREEN BURIAL WITH VISITATION, FUNERAL, AND GRAVESIDE SERVICE: $5,200

Includes local transport from the place of death into our care, washing, dressing, casketing or shrouding, one day of viewing at our funeral home, next day funeral at any location, graveside service, hearse and lead car for funeral procession.

HOME FUNERAL

A "Home Funeral" used to be most commonly known as a "funeral", since all families would care for their deceased loved ones in their own homes. Today, a home funeral simply means choosing to keep a body home after death occurs. Embalming is not typical in a home visitation, but we do offer sanitation and temporary preservation of a decedent using only non-invasive techniques and materials. This safe and legal option puts complete power into the hands of families and lets them become more involved in the funeral process. Home funerals can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. While we leave the funeral in your hands, we will happily offer guidance with: 

• gentle preparation (closing the eyes and mouth)
• washing
• dressing
• shrouding/casketing
• transportation 
• obtaining legal documents 
• burial arrangements
