Of Penn Hills, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Al was born in Swissvale on August 10, 1934, the youngest son of Mary Katherine Gallagher and Eugene Albert Gardill. He completed Pharmacy School at the University of Pittsburgh and was the owner of Physician’s Pharmacy in Braddock, which was begun by his father in 1928. He was past president of the Allegheny County Pharmaceutical Association and had a great rapport with his customers. Al loved to hunt and was an avid traveler who enjoyed many trips abroad with his wife. They also enjoyed going out for a concert and trying new restaurants. Albert was a very kind and generous man who loved to laugh and tell jokes and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He was especially loved and cared for by his nephews, the late Robert Haberle (Andreé), David Haberle, Scott Haberle, and Eric Haberle; his much loved nieces, Michelle Back (Dwight), Caroline Thompson, and Mary Beth Gardill; great-nephews, Mark, Zack, and Jacob; and great-niece, Rachel. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Arlene Joan (Haberle) Gardill; daughter Jana Fedele (Bill) of Bedford, VA; sister Julianne Gardill of Florida; and nieces Kathy Cleaver, Debie Balta, Lara Urbas, Sandra Marie Shema, Rebecca Haberle, and Christine Maragos. Preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Thomas Gardill. Friends received at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Wednesday from 3 to 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Fisher Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Thursday at 11am. Private entombment in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
