Of Churchill, age 96, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, her 76th wedding anniversary to her late husband, Kenneth G. Wenger. June was born on June 25, 1929, the beloved daughter of Amos and Carrie May (Eckert) Gessaman of Hershey, PA. June married Ken, her high school sweetheart in 1950. She raised 6 children, Barbara Wenger-Amick, Nancy (deceased at 7 days old), Kenneth (deceased at age 42) his spouse Mona survives, William (Teresa), Thomas (Kendra), and James (Tara).
June created a warm and welcoming home that became the neighborhood gathering place. A running joke was that every time the family moved, she had another child. Her journey started in Hershey, then Indiana, Germany, Huntingdon, PA, Garden City, and finally Churchill.
As a mother, June was the heart of the family, a calm in every storm. She was the glue that held us all together. She loved baking and making gourmet dinners for family, friends, and Ken's associates. In her later years she dabbled in painting, pottery, puzzles, word searches, babysitting grandchildren, and volunteering at Barb's school. She was the middle of ten children, 5 sisters (one surviving) and 4 brothers (deceased). June has 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date where family and friends will share memories of June's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Amedisys Hospice Care of Monroeville, 3835 Northern Pike Suite 3, Monroeville Pennsylvania 15146. Arrangements by Wolfe Memorial, LLC.
