Annamma Kuruvilla

Annamma Kuruvilla, the epitome of "My Grace is sufficient for Thee", went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 after a life of 100 years. Beloved wife of the late George Kuruvilla, she was a devoted and loving mother of Leenu Peterson (Mark Peterson) and Sheena Jacob (Roby Jacob). She cherished her three grandchildren: Noah Peterson, Sanjana Jacob and Savina Jacob. She is also survived by her loving sister Saramma George.

A woman of grit, determination and courage, she pursued her dreams of higher education and became the first woman in her family to be a college graduate. Her nursing career spanned 50 years across India and the United States. She was the Principal of the School of Nursing in Indore, India before coming to the US in 1971 to continue her education. She had two Masters degrees, in Psychology and Nursing, both of which she acquired after becoming a mother. She was committed to nursing as a vocation. Her patients loved her and some became life-long friends. She retired as a Registered Nurse after working for 23 years in the US.

Annamma walked a life of deep and abiding faith. Anyone who knew her also knew with certainty her faith in Christ. She was a missionary without that label. She endured uncommon challenges that were seemingly insurmountable in her life. But with her trust in the Lord, she was fearless as she boldly forged through her life. She lived a life of generosity with love towards her family and friends. Her wisdom, counsel and prayers were well known and sought after everywhere she lived. She was the faithful, loving friend who ministered to loved ones' needs--physically, medically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually.

After retirement and a long life of hard work, she spent the rest of her days in ceaseless prayer. Her grace and peace in her Lord shone through every day of her life even during her last 2 years in hospice.

Annamma was born to Potha and Aleyamma Verghese in Mepral, Kerala, India on December 2, 1924. She is pre-deceased by 3 older sisters.

Friends received at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Burial in William Penn Cemetery, Churchill.
