Darlene Smith Obituary

Our beloved mother passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters, Toma Jai Ananda Smith, Aurora Ariella Smith, Eve Meri Roskos Alderman, and Liberty Pearl Smith, as well as her best friend Tricia Braddock. She went peacefully and with absolute grace. We are so thankful to her for this beautiful life she gave us, and deeply honored to have shared in her final moments by her side, as a family.

She is survived by her mother, Dolores Roskos; her eight siblings, Daniel “Skip” Roskos, Deborah Roskos, David Roskos, Dolores “DeeDee” Whiteley, Daryl Roskos, Dean Roskos, Dwight Roskos, and Douglas Roskos; grandchildren Nadia Ann Palmieri, Jeffrey Palmieri Jr., Ariana Tatiana Chernyshev, Katya Marie Chernyshev, Jackson Graham Earl Frew, and Annabelle Rose Chernyshev; and great-grandchildren Saraia Zayn Patrick and Naomi Zorah Williams, all of whom were her pride and joy.

Darlene was born in Hazleton, PA, in 1953, grew up in Levittown, PA, and lived all over the world before moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1984. It was here that she laid down her roots, developing herself as a massage therapist, gardener, dancer, and mother. She created a life for herself that was filled with adventure, joy, love, mischief, and full self-expression. She was a brilliant, beautiful, creator of life that exploded with love and color.

“I know that you know that I love you. What I want you to know is that I know you love me.”

And our final message to you, our dear, beloved mother, GiGi and Goddess DouDou is, “Follow, follow the sun, the direction of the birds, the direction of love.” Aloha and Mahalo
