Of Edgewood, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Loving father of Laura Lee "Lolli" Sholley (K.J.) of Charlotte, NC, George F. MacDonald (Carolyn) of Sewickley, and the late James N. MacDonald. Proud grandfather of Alexis, Ashton, Diana, and George and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores G. "Petie” MacDonald.

George was born March 15, 1926, in Tarentum, PA. He attended Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine 1948-1952. He practiced at West Penn Hospital, Braddock Hospital, and Forbes Regional as a surgeon. He was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Colorectal Society, and Diplomat of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeries. 

Dr. MacDonald was an enlisted officer in the US Navy. He was a former member of Infinity Masonic Lodge, Edgewood Presbyterian Church, one of the founders of the Pittsburgh Ski Club, and former member of Edgewood Country Club and Alcoma Golf Club. He enjoyed family, travel, golf, puzzles, and building model ships.
