Edward John Hansen

Of Wilkinsburg, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Loving father of Christine Grove (Douglas) of Wilmington, NC, John Hansen of Wilkinsburg, David Hansen (Melanie) of Plum, and Rev. Dr. Steven Hansen (Debby) of Verona. Cherished grandfather of Carol Hansen (Jim Howes), the late Edward Hansen, Kristen DiBello (Emil), Joshua Hansen (Ashley), Brian Bartnicki (Emily), Philip Hansen, Nathanael Hansen, and Luke Hansen. Great-grandfather of Aaron Hansen, Kimberly Hansen, Robert Hansen, Braden DiBello, and Gwendolyn DiBello. Brother of Arlene Labriola (Louis), the late Albert Hansen (Dorothy), the late Marlys Hansen, the late Mildred Hannigan (the late Charles), the late Gert Hansen (Louise), Marilyn Foringer (Tom), Karen Bursic (Mark), and Lorraine Beatty (Lou). Uncle of many loving nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death in 2001 by his loving wife of 49 years, Edna Mae Jones. He was a veteran of the Korean War and worked as a machinist. He loved to garden, camp, and was an all around family man and jack-of-all-trades who was always willing to help. He will be remembered for his wonderful homemade pickles, horseradish, and pickled garlic. Services are private to Edward's family, and he will be laid to rest in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, East Liberty. The family suggests gifts in Edward's memory to a charity of your choice.
