Eugene P. Edwards

Eugene (Gene) P. Edwards, of Monroeville, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Beloved husband of Jo-Anne (Petras) for 60 years. Loving father of Deborah (Gino) of Chevy Chase, MD and Paul (Angela) of Silver Spring, MD. Proud grandfather of Ava and Rhys Edwards. Brother of Lois Giza (Steve) of Kingston, PA. Brother-in-law of Allen Petras (Frannie) and Denise Petras. Uncle of Michelle and Kim Giza, Adam Petras, and Jason Ludwig (Kim). Gene is preceeded in death by his brothers-in-law Harvey Petras and David Petras, and sisters-in-law Diane Ludwig (Fred) and Cheryl Burkhardt (Donnie).

Gene was born in West Pittston, PA, and graduated from Kingston High School. He earned an electrical engineering degree from Penn State University in 1961 and moved to Pittsburgh to launch a 38 year career with the Duquesne Light Company. Gene was an avid Nittany Lion and Steelers fan. He enjoyed various activities including golf, bowling, softball, coaching youth sports, and planning golf trips and vacations. To his golf buddies… have a Jim Beam Manhattan on the rocks--- you buy!

Friends received at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Saturday, June 10, from 1pm until 3:30pm. At 3:30pm, everyone is invited to celebrate Gene’s life by sharing stories and memories together.
