H. Joan Sanford

Of Lighthouse Pointe at Chapel Harbor in O'Hara Twp., formerly of Churchill and Edgewood, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Beloved wife of 63 years of the late Clair N. Sanford who predeceased her in 2010. Loving mother of the late David N. Sanford and his surviving wife, Margo, of Kansas; Sue Sanford of Forest Hills; Patty Aubele and her husband, Ed, of Trafford; and Jack C. Sanford and his wife, Colleen, of Cheswick. Also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joan was born in Clyde, OH, and raised with one older brother, Jack Crockett. She graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1944 and Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked at Shadyside and Montefiore Hospitals and was a school nurse at Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf for 10 years. She was a member of Oakmont Presbyterian Church. Friends received at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral service at Oakmont Presbyterian Church on Tuesday at 10:00am. Please meet at church. Masks are required for everyone at the funeral home and at church.
