Of Forest Hills, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020, with his wife and beloved golden retriever, Lil' Chief, by his side. Beloved husband of 36 years of Sue McInerney. Loving father of Mark Berry (Alison Huettner), Amy Berry, Beth Berry, and Cindy Picone (Jeff). Proud grandfather of Andrea Berry, Jordan Picone, and James Picone, and great-grandfather of Anika Lavender. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Elma (Thompson) Berry, his sister, Patricia Soles, and his brother, Mitchell Berry. Jim was a US Navy Veteran who served from 1953 to 1957. He worked for 38 years as a news editor and photographer for WTAE-TV before his retirement in 1996. Jim was an avid reader, crossword puzzler, great cook, and music lover. Some of his most memorable times were spent at his yearly golf outing at Conneaut Lake and his winters on Sanibel Island. He was well loved by all and will be deeply missed. Services private due to COVID-19. Jim will be laid to rest in Homewood Cemetery and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later time.
