Age 93, of Wilkins Twp., was peacefully called home to the Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Beloved husband of the late Catherine “Kay” Thomas for 52 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Tomas and Agnes Knightly Thomas; brother, Donald Thomas; sister, Dorothy Mae Mellocchi; brother-in-law, John Mellocchi; and sisters-in-law, Frances McAllister Thomas of Swissvale, Mary Jane McGinn Fricovsky, Betty Stark of Ohio, and Patricia Lucas of Swissvale. He is survived by his brother, Jim Thomas of North Huntingdon, Bob Thomas (Monica) of Idaho and sister-in-law, Shirley Thomas of Turtle Creek; loving Uncle Ticky to 18 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews, each whom he showered with love and laughter. John was a longtime employee of Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) and a Pittsburgh Steelers Super Fan. John was a 1951 graduate of Scott High School in Braddock, and a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS New Jersey. Friends received at WOLFE MEMORIAL, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Saint John Fisher Church. Entombment in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
