Age 87, of Forest Hills and Brady’s Bend, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Born in North Braddock on May 14, 1937, to Joseph E. Slick, Sr. and Sara K. (Gettig) Slick. Father of Joseph D. Slick and John D. Slick (Michele). Former spouse of Jeanie Slick Bergman. Brother of Linda Rich (Dave), the late Barbara Ann Whelpley (the late Richard), and the late Lawrence A. Slick. Uncle of Scott Welpley, Lindsey Lopez (Elliot), Lori Beth Aguila, the late Lee Ann Welpley; and great uncle of Harper and Luke. Also survived by his partner of many years Sherry Stoner and their dog Rocky. Joe graduated from Braddock High School and was a member of the Juniata College Graduating Class of 1959. He worked for the Peoples Natural Gas Company for his entire career as an accounting manager. He served in the Army National Guard, was a Pittsburgh Jaycee, and was active in Boy Scout Troop 98. Joe loved the Allegheny River where he enjoyed boating at Brady’s Bend, PA, as well as cross country skiing in the Laurel Highlands, and hiking the trails of Western PA. Joe loved and enjoyed the company of dogs and was known to always carry dog biscuits in his pocket.
Friends received at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Tuesday, January 28, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral service at McMasters United Methodist Church, 200 Church Street, Turtle Creek PA 15145, on Wednesday, January 29, at 11am. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in William Penn Cemetery.
