Louis Davis Hutmire

August 30, 1932 ~ September 7, 2022 (age 90)

Louis Davis Hutmire, 90, of Pittsburgh went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
Born August 30, 1932, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Glenn Augustus and Edna Marguerite (Davis) Hutmire. Lou (“Bud”) worked as a parts manager of the Wilkinsburg Nash Garage before serving for two years in Korea with the US Army’s Light Aviation Unit. He studied for one year at Geneva College before returning to auto parts management for American Motors Corporation. Later, he studied accounting and served the office of treasurer and stated clerk for the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America for 30 years.
Lou, known for his helpfulness and work with his hands, refinished furniture as gifts, fixed his and others’ cars, reroofed his own old large house and tinkered with making toys and fixing bikes for the many children in his life. Another hobby was Steelers football; he loved a good game. Lou was a founding member of the Covenant Fellowship Reformed Presbyterian Church in Wilkinsburg and served as an elder for over 30 years.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Nancy Louise (Fish), whom he met when her dad brought him home for dinner. They married August 24,1957. He was a godly example and loving father to his children: Lynne (Drew) Gordon, Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Deborah (Michael) Urbano, State College, Pa.; and Louis (Jennifer) Hutmire, Pittsburgh, Pa. His grandchildren are: Paul “Taylor” (Catherine) Gordon; Levi Gordon; Katherine (Nathan) McKerley; Christiana (Branden) Urbano; Jessalin Urbano; Andrew (Ellie) Hutmire; Benjamin Hutmire; Jonathan Hutmire. He has three great-grandchildren: Paul “Hart” Gordon, Clara Gordon, and (yet unborn) Jenny Hutmire.
Born into a family of eight children, Lou was preceded in death by his wife and his five sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Smith, Norabell (Harry) London, Edith (Jerry) Rougeux, Virginia (Mel) Long, and Jean (David) Bradley of Miami. He is survived by sister Phyllis (Jerry) Neal of Cleveland, Ohio, and brother Glenn (Patricia) Hutmire of Ovieda, Florida.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 17, at Covenant Fellowship Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1300 Swissvale Avenue, Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, 15221.

“The man is good and truly blessed,
Who freely gives and lends,
Who justly governs his affairs,
Who truth and right extends,
There surely is not anything
That ever will him move;
The righteous man’s memorial
Will everlasting prove.”
—Psalm 112A, stanza 3, The Book of Psalms for Worship
