Louis E. Parks

Louis (Beetle or Louie) Elmo Parks, 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Louis was born the youngest of three children to Robert and Bertha Parks on June 29, 1952. He worked in the Beaver Valley Power Station as a Radiation Technician for 40 years until his retirement in the late 1990s. He had a passion for Chess, and any other strategic games out there.

Louis met his beloved wife, Brenda Mae (Cobb) Parks when he was a freshman at Penn State University. They struck up a relationship on the very first day of orientation on the State College campus where they both were studying engineering. They were married on July 17, 1974 surrounded by friends and family.

In 1971, Louis and Brenda Parks welcomed their first child, Gloria (Glo) Diane into the world. Four years later, they were delighted to have their second child, David (Dave) Louis Parks, their only boy. One year later, Lisa (Lease) Marie Parks was born. Finally in 1980, they gave birth to the baby, Cherisse (Ree) Michelle Parks.

Our father was always teaching us. He was very hands on and set his children on a path to success. We will always love him for his sense of humor and his calm, consistent and loving ways. He always listened to us.

Beetle wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, friend, minister, Bible Student and mentor.

Louis loved Chess and advancing technology. He was also very much into science. He watched a lot of history documentaries and dreamed of traveling to space. He also enjoyed good food, especially barbecue.

Sadly, Louis was preceded in death by his Mom, his Dad, his brother, his daughter Gloria Diane and his beloved wife, Brenda Mae.

He is survived by his sister, Gloria Parks, his three children: David, Lisa and Cherisse, and numerous nieces and nephews including Rodney, Michael, Stephanie, Crystal, Jeffrey, Tasha, Gwen, and Jennifer, as well as his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jean Brumfield.

He will be missed.
