Marilyn Maiello Obituary

Marilyn B. Maiello, born July 15, 1940, in Ambridge, PA., passed away November 25, 2025 at the age of 85. Marilyn was the dear daughter of the late Vincent and Blanche (Costanza) Borgia and daughter-in-law of the late Lawrence and Theresa (DeAngelis) Maiello. For 64 years she was the beloved wife of Alfred Maiello. Cherished mom of Lawrence (Beth) Maiello and Allison (Ken) Kure. Grandmother (Mimi) to Brandon Maiello, Amanda (Lex) Booth, Keirstan (Eric) Derstine, Collin (Noelle) Kure, Connor (MaKenzie) Kure. Great Grandmother to Caroline and Kendall. Sister to Joetta (Gene) Novy and Frank (Jane) Borgia. Marilyn was loved by her niece, Denise. Nephews Nick, Steve (Karen), Matthew, Nicholas (Megan), her many great nieces and nephews, and her many cousins.

Marilyn was a graduate of Ambridge High School and earned a Bachelor of Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Marilyn was a teacher at Penn Hills High School, Assistant to Dr. Margaret McFarland (advisor to Mr. Rogers), Coordinator for the American Bar Association Continuing Education Seminars, member of the Curriculum Committee of OSHAR, member of the Penn State College of Education Scholarship Committee, Coordinator for the American Cancer Society Daffodil Day, The Clothes Line Resale Shop supporting women’s health research and patient care at Magee Women’s-Hospital, an accomplished artist, gourmet cook, and a woman of deep faith.

If you were to ask Marilyn her greatest accomplishment in life, she would tell you it was being wife to Alfred, mom, sister, aunt, “Mimi”, and friend. Marilyn’s true passion was loving, supporting, and taking care of those she loved. She always knew what was going on in her loved one's lives. By asking thoughtful questions, listening intently, and offering sage advise with a warm hug, Marilyn encouraged everyone on their journeys. She was our biggest cheerleader.

Marilyn loved to play tennis and bridge with her friends. Although, her favorite times were spent with her family whether it be at the annual Hilton Head family vacation, or attending endless children's sporting events, plays, musicals, or sharing and teaching family traditions, or celebrating the holidays surrounded by those she loved. Marilyn had the unique talent of making the simple look extraordinary.

Marilyn was a woman of deep faith and she regularly attended mass and cherished receiving Communion. She illustrated her faith by her actions and, when needed, with her gentle words. She gave herself endlessly to others. She set the example of how to treat others with love, kindness, respect, and loving each person as uniquely their own. We love you Hon, Marilyn, Mom, Mimi and our hearts will never be the same but, we are better because of you and we know you “love us more” and forever carry your lessons of family, life, and love.
