Patricia Russo Obituary

Patricia A. Russo (née Longo)

Age 92, formerly of Forest Hills, Pennsylvania, on Monday, March 27, 2023.  Pat passed away peacefully with her husband of 71 years, Tony, and their son Steven, at her bedside.

Pat was born October 8, 1931, to Bertha George and John Longo, Sr.  She grew up in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh.  After moving to East Liberty at the age of 18, she met her future husband, Tony, on a blind date in 1950.  They would marry two years later, settling in the nearby neighborhood of Shadyside.  There they joined the parish of Sacred Heart.  Pat attended nursing school at night while raising their first son, Anthony, and worked as an LPN at West Penn and St. Francis Hospitals.  Years later, while raising their second son, Steven, she would return to nursing school to earn her R.N. Degree and practice at Shadyside Hospital.  She had a lifelong love of reading and learning, always working hard.

Pat and Tony eventually settled in Forest Hills and joined the parish of St. Maurice.  There Pat taught CCD and again became actively involved in church and school activities.  She was happiest surrounded by her family and friends and hosting grand Italian-style dinners at their home. She enjoyed many years of retirement with her devoted husband Tony in their Forest Hills home, and later in their final years together, at Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont, PA.

She is survived by her husband, Tony, and her two sons, Anthony (Laura) Russo and Steven (Kelly) Russo; and her four grandchildren, Antonio, Angelina, Marcus, and Mira Russo, and great-granddaughter, Addilyn Jennings.

Pat is also survived by brothers David (Joyce) George and Robert (Linda) George.  Pat was one of six siblings, the second child of Bertha George and her first husband John Longo, Sr.  She is predeceased by her mother and father and, later, her step-father, Raymond George, and her brothers John Longo, Jr. and Alan George, and sister Amy Brady.

Pat is the treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews who will miss her kind and deeply caring disposition.  She leaves behind many cousins and friends throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Visitation will be held at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Tuesday, April 4, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 2001 Ardmore Boulevard, on Wednesday, April 5, commencing at 11:00 am.
