Shirley Pettit Roy

Formerly of Murrysville and Forest Hills, age 89, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, at St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Gibsonia. Born in Meadville, PA, on April 19, 1932, she was the daughter of Harold R. and Dacie Smale Pettit. Shirley graduated from Meadville High School in 1950 and the University of Pennsylvania College of Dental Hygiene in 1952. She was a longtime member of Beulah Presbyterian Church in Churchill, and an avid reader and bridge player who enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a two-time survivor who beat both breast cancer and Covid-19.

Shirley was married for 50 years to the late Thomas W. Roy. She is survived by her children, Robert T. Roy (Noreen) of Wexford; Susan V. Farrell (Michael) of Exton, PA; and Elizabeth A. Sharpe (David) of Summit, NJ; and her loving grandchildren, Sean and Shannon Roy, Stephen and Elizabeth Farrell, and David, Emily, Thomas, and Caroline Sharpe. She is also survived by her brother, Don H. Pettit (Jill) of Keswick, VA. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 24 at 10:00am at Beulah Presbyterian Church, 2500 McCrady Road, Pittsburgh PA 15235, followed by a reception in the church hall. Private interment will be in the Beulah Church Cemetery.
